My first hunting rifle was a.30-06 my gunsmith father and I built on a World War II German 98 Mauser action. I was a teenager, and with handloads and peep sights it accounted for everything from woodchucks to deer. Many years later, during a visit to the local gun shop, I spotted an old commercially made Husqvarna Mauser sporting rifle. Inspection showed that it had been used but not abused. It had been carried a lot, showing small stock dings and checkering points that were shiny with wear, which only added to the lovely aged patina of the fine old European walnut stock.
Made in 1967. Looks to be, probably, a model 1600, but that would be easier to tell with some pictures of the entire gun, not just the buttplate and the name.Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag (Husqvarna Weapons-fabricator, Incorporated-Company) made guns, for both military and civilian use, from 1689 to the late 1960s. They also made, among other things, stoves, motorcycles, bicycles, chain saws and sewing machines. But mostly they made civilian firearms. In the late '60s they sold the 'gun part' of the business to Carl Gustav, and have since gone to being the world's largest producer of 'outdoor power equipment' - garden tractors, chain saws, weed-whackers, etc.edit: I just noticed I forgot to mention they are Swedish. I think it is a very interesting rifle and needs to be cleaned. I borrowed it from my cousin to let my 12 yr old shoot it this year for deer season.

Do you know if these where sold in the states or could this have been bought over seas. I believe my uncle oringally may have purchased it while stationed in Germany. We are still trying to put the time line together has he passed away a few years ago. It's funny how you only find the question once the answers have left you!.The Firearms Forum is on online community for all gun enthusiasts.
Complete serial number on the receiver and barrel plus the last three digits of that serial number on all major parts until the advent of the m/38 rifle as manufactured by Husqvarna. Keep in mind that when parts were repaired or otherwise changed, the armorer was required to restamp the last three digits of the receiver serial number on the replaced part. Accordingly, replacement barrels will show only the last three digits of the serial number rather than the. Jan 10, 2020 I am considering buying a Swedish M38 I have seen in a local gunshop. It is a Carl Gustafs with a 1916 date on the receiver and a 643,XXX serial number. It has a bent bolt with matching last three serial numbers. The numbers on the other parts also match. Everything looks good, except there are a couple of things I don't understand. I can’t reconcile the date with the SN.
